The NY Fashion Week has ended with much pomp and flair. The designers are now just resting their tired heads and are thinking of things to do for Fall/Winter 09. They may be silent, but Fashion Tongues are still wagging. NY Fashion sh
ows received rave reviews from both critics and fans. But, as the hype dies down, people can’t help think back on the trends that ruled the runway. And Sheer, See through, Peek-a-boo tops were one of the most memorable.
Fashion designers across the board from Marc Jacobs to Calvin Klein showed a bit more than what their models would have wanted. Perhaps, the fashion designers were inspired by this summer’s heat. Maybe they thought giving women their own AC system was the right thing to do.
Despite the generous helpings of décolletage – no one seemed to care. There were no protestors holding picket lines claiming the degradation of women. No, it was all accepted in stride. Experts surmise that this just shows how much the society is progressing. If men can take off their shirts in public and be accepted, why can’t women show their lingerie?
It may be so, but, here’s hoping that women don’t take to the streets with those fashions just yet. It may be one of those things that work on the runway and not in real life.

New York fashion week is in full swing. It started out with designers showing easy looks for spring. Designers like Derek Lam showed tan and peachy tones over cropped genie pants. Marc Jacobs’ younger line showed girls in white coats and scarves worn over pleated floral flocks. The designer even included pegged pants and fanny packs – yes, fanny packs. But, through all the loose fits and neutral shades came the corset.
Just as people were falling in love with the lazy trend, fashion designers started to dish out cinched waists and structured bodices. Rib hugging pants and skirts even appeared in a few of the fashion shows. Boned corsets were usually paired with flowy, feathery tulle and printed silk chiffon.
It started with Monique Lhuillier who showed structured dresses and corsets accentuated with soft flowly fabrics. High waists and skinny belts were also seen in Lhuiller’s fashion show. Some fashion designers opted to go for SNM looks that were paired with tailored soft suits. Other designers who included the corset in their fashion collections include: cooky and fun Betsy Johnson, Luca Luca, Isaac Mizrahi, Proenza Schouler and Herve Leger.
Fashion week still has a few more days to go. Some of the biggest names haven’t even shown their collections yet. Who knows where the panache corset will be by then.

Spice Girl, socialite, actress, mum and fashion designer Victoria Beckham is sporting a shorter and darker hair cut. Beckham debut her new hair cut during the
show in New York fashion week. Beckham was photographed sharing the front row with actresses Jennifer Lopez and Eva Langoria - Parker.
Beckham stole the show when she showed the world her new do. When asked why she made her locks shorter, Beckham replied:
“You know, I just like to change things up. I get bored very, very quickly and I just fancied a change.”
Before she paraded this new do, Beckham was sporting a sleek bob that was nicknamed the ‘Pob’ - after her. The ‘Pob’ was on the top of the most requested hair cuts list in the UK. She has also worn hair extensions in the past and has even bleached her hair blonde. Her new hair cut is a sleek bob cut close to the scalp with lots of layers. Beckham paired her new hair cut with a strapless black dress (probably with a strapless bra) she designed herself.
Fashion week is also big for Beckham because it would be the first time she would show the world her latest collection of ladies’ clothing.
