The countdown for the highly anticipated Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show began with interested participants awaiting invitations for this exclusive show that will take place in the Ramadan calendar month.

According to reports, the Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show will take place on September 3, 2009 in Dubai. The undertaking is organized by Dubai Ladies Club, a member of the Dubai Women Establishment.

It is also in this upcoming show where the grand winner of the Oriental Red Carpet Emerging Designer Contest will be announced. The following clinched the final three slots – Athija Al Mazroui (champion of Abayas category), Fatima Al Hashimi (champion of Jalabiyas category) and Marian Al Mazrou (champion of ready-to-wear [RTW] category). The trio will get the chance to showcase their collections to the clientele and media during the event.

Dubai Ladies Club announced that they have secured lucrative sponsorship deals with Sony Ericsson, General Motors and Barclays Wealth.

Prizes such as luxury items, trips and many more are at stake for the attendees of this prestigious fashion show. The event will take place at the Al Mahara Ballroom at the Dubai Ladies Club.

In the latest season of hit fashion reality TV show “Project Runway,” high profile celebrities such as Rebecca Romijm, Eva Longoria Parker, Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan are scheduled to make appearances as guest judges.

The fashion show, hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, will feature sixteen aspiring fashion designers that will compete against each other in a bid to win a fashion spread in Marie Clair magazine, an all expense paid trip for two to Paris and $100,000 in cash.

Klum revealed in an interview that viewers should watch out for the female competitors in the upcoming series because she believes that they have performed strongly. However, she noted that there’ll be a lot of fighting and crying in the series as a lot of dramas are expected to unfold which will affect most of the female contenders.

The judges of the show include Marie Claire Fashion Director Nina Garcia and Top Designer Michael Kors. In the first episode which starts on September 16, controversial actress Lindsay Lohan will make an appearance as guest judge. In the preview, Lohan was seen enjoying the experience of judging talented fashion designers.

India’s capital city will soon host the very first fashion week that caters to men.

New Delhi is reportedly the fourth city in the world to hold a men’s fashion week. The first three are known fashion capitals (London, Paris and New York).

This event is said to be highly anticipated considering the opportunities provided by the growing market in the men’s fashion industry with the male population starting to embrace the modern scene where they get to choose what great clothes to wear. Men will be modelling a range of men’s apparel including swimwear and men’s accessories

Fashion Design Council of India President Sunil Sethi said that fashion these days is not all about women but men as well. He added that being the fourth city in the world to showcase the latest fashion trends for men is a big achievement considering that the first three are already known fashion powerhouses.

The FDCI President stressed that the fashion marketplace in Indian cities have changed through the years which prompted them to organize this event.

The men’s fashion week will take place on September 11. This ambitious project became possible through the cooperative efforts made between FDCI and global lifestyle brand Van Heusen.
