Tesco to launch smart clothing line for the younger generation
Retail chain giant Tesco revealed that it will launch a new smart clothing line aimed at the younger generation next week. The line is called Florence & Fred Trend. This is the company’s aim to expand its apparel business by tapping into the younger consumers.
The Britain’s largest retail chain announced that it had annual pre-tax profits of more than 3 billion British pounds. It aims to compete with higher street clothing rivals such as New Look, Primark and George at Asda and its range will cover all clothing items including seasonal apparael such as swimwear for the summer and wintersport wear for the winter.
Tesco Buying Director Jan Marchant said that they are targeting the 16 to 24 year-old market. He added that they’ll be producing reasonably-priced fashion clothes that still look great despite the lesser price.
Tesco is aiming to expand its clothing business since it is still a small part of the company’s operations. It is looking into expanding its business overseas. For now, 70 percent of its profits come from its businesses in the UK.
