Fashion designers included in Queen’s honours list
This is certainly a great news for makers of designer clothes. Two fashion designers have been recognized in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
According to reports, Natalie Massenet got an MBE (Members of the Order of the British Empire) while Jeff Banks got a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire).
Massenet is known for founding Net-a-Porter, an online clothes retailer while Banks is a noted television presenter and fashion designer.
Banks, who turned 66 this year, said that he did not expect the accolade, saying that he thought he had done something “naughty things” in the past that would not fit the criteria. He’s thankful for the big honor and said that this is good for the fashion industry. Banks’ designer clothes are selling well in large markets such as Japan, Australia, United States and United Kingdom. He’ll have two new outlets in China early next year.
Meanwhile, 44-year old Massenet created the website nine years ago to meet the need of the readers who were not able to buy clothes that were featured in magazines. The site gets nearly 2 million hits per month and reports massive revenues each year.
